Financial Crisis My A#s!!

I went to KL last weekend for Robert Kiyosaki's seminar. After each day, I have some spare time in the afternoon that I went to Mines Shopping Mall and Midvalley Shopping Mall & The Garden.

To my surprise, there is no "crisis" in KL, or at least at the shopping mall that I went.

Traffic jam on weekend....view from pedestrian walkway at KTM Commuter train.

People jam in shops and alleys.......

Now, those who said that there is a financial crisis should visit the Malls, or the nearest mall for that matter ;D

Community Patrols Score in Crime Fight.

It has come to my attention that today's local newspaper; New Straits Times (Prime News, page 13) has reported that "Neighbourhood watch teams in the country foiled about 6,500 crimes last year, from vandalism to motorcycle and cable theft."

These cases are mostly what the 'talkies' aimed for 24 hours - 7days. There are even signs to look out for in a suspect. For example;
  • the number plate of the suspects vehicle is broken off or "dissappeared";
  • they wear black or dark jacket & pants;
  • and slowly ride their vehicle near to target motorcycle/car/person.

It is a good reminder for a person to be AWARE of their surroundings, and DO NOT leave bags visible in a car. Even if we have to hide the bags underneath the car seats, make sure its done when the surrounding is clear.."suspects" are always on the lookout. "They" will see your body bend down to hide something underneath your car seats..encouraging "them" to break your car window and take whatever you are hiding. Even if your bag has nothing important, you have a broken car window to repair.

The paper also reported that "There are 1,409 neighbourhood watch teams, consisting of some 70,000 volunteers nationwide." This doesn't mean that we can take this for granted. Remember that Prevention is Always Better than Cure..

Below are some important contact list of the Neighbourhood Watch Team (it is also called PASUKAN KESELAMATAN SUKARELA KADUN BUKIT MERTAJAM) which you can contact if you have an emergency. It is also adviseable to know your local's Team & Police contact number, for their prompt action.

Fire at Paper Factory near Autocity.

I just bought a walkie talkie from a friend few days ago..not cheap but it's for a purpose. It seems that there's a few group of "volunteer" communities (Talkies) that is using this talkie to communicate with each other to catch thiefs..big and small. When there's some suspicious activity or suspects, talkies will follow in groups, check out the suspects car/bike's plate number to see if they're stolen property, round them up to place them in police custody. In short, talkies are running towards what we are running away from..the criminals.

But today - 4th of March, I heard the "talkies" help our Bomba to fight fire that broke out near Autocity. The distress call started around 3pm. I even saw thick smoke and flown paper debris from as far as Bukit Mertajam. Since I was near & out of curiousity, I went to have a look.

On site they are helping to divert traffic, coordinate to call volunteer fire fighters from Raja Uda; Permatang Pauh; Permatang Tinggi; Berapit; Bukit Mertajam and also as far as Penang island, diverting them to site, find water source for the fire fighters, basically acting as helping hand around the area. In time of chaos and panic, with Bomba & Police & Ambulance, the talkies are acting as the coordinator. I even helped out in diverting traffic for a while :D

As at 1am, I can still hear talkies in action..it seems that the fire is under control but not out yet. Mind you, the factory stores a lot of flammable papers at the warehouse.

Hope to see more of them around..the talkies that is :D

A Talkie showed Bomba the way..

1st Crown

Got 'crowned' today by dentist @ Taman Inderawasih. Yup..not crowned by Queen E or any famous royalties but a dentist. After few nights of agonising pain and popping panadols before bed, finally got the courage & $$ (RM500 to be exact) to perform the metal crowning. Now, with no or little maintenance, I could eat away without worries. Heheh..felt partly like the TERMINATOR :D

Happy Chinese Moo Year Y'all

Here's a summary of events prior to 2009 Chinese New Year;

Nicholas fav 'magic car' is destroyed by his chek chek on 17.02.2009. The sound of him falling "THUD" can be heard on 1st floor room..there's even blood gushing out. Sort of sacrificial offering for good year to come..hehehe

Night view of the completed RED decoration on the exterior of the house. China-made decorations bought from BM shop are quite cheap. Hope it last at least through out the CNY period.

Day view of the RED decoration on the interior of the house.

1st Day of CNY - Long & smooth ride back to Bukit Pinang's temple & Jitra, home of the in-laws after that. Surprisingly, traffic was tolerable..

On 29.02.2009, whole family went to Batu Ferringhi to play with the sea. It was high tide that day but we insisted on playing as the children (Nicholas, Jay & Alex) are very enthusiastic about the sea side. We had a blast when everyone touches the water. Suddenly the fun stopped when I was stung by a jelly fish. Jay was pretty lucky as I was carrying him with that left arm too. Advised from doc..do not clean with water, use VINEGAR every 15mins.
Sort of sacrificial offering for good year to come..

Motivation & Humour

"You've got to win in your mind before you win in your life."
- John Addison

A man is sitting on a train across from a busty blonde wearing a tiny mini skirt. Despite his efforts, he is unable to stop staring at the
female's skirt. To his delight, he realizes she is going commando.
The blonde realizes he is staring, and inquires, "Are you looking at my fanny?" "Yes, I’m sorry," replies the man, and promises to avert his eyes. "It’s quite all right," replies the woman, "It’s very talented. Watch this. I’ll make it blow a kiss to you." Sure enough, the fanny blows him a kiss. The man gets interested, and inquires what else the wonder fanny can do. "I also can make it wink," says the woman. The man stares in amazement as the fanny winks at him. "Come and sit next to me," suggests the woman, patting the seat. The man moves over and is asked, "Would you like to stick two fingers in?" Shocked, the man replies, "Can it whistle as well?"
